This workshop is for people who are looking for some hands on skills to help relieve muscle tightness on their friends, loved ones, clients (if you are a massage therapist or yoga teacher) and on themselves. In this workshop we will explore at least 3 powerful, manual massage techniques that are safe, easy to apply and give quick results.
We will also discuss the basics of muscular physiology in order to understand the underlying mechanisms of what leads to tight muscle tissue and how to relieve it, and rehabilitate it.
This class will be made up of 25% theory and 75% practical, “hands on” experience.
Suitable for absolute beginners through to intermediates in the field of massage and hands on healing therapies.
Clothes:
This workshop is “clothes on”. However, for one of the techniques it does work best if the back is exposed. Optional on the day.
Please wear comfortable clothes (not jeans etc.),

About the facilitator:
Michael Hetherington (BHtlhSci, TCM, Yoga) was first drawn to the therapeutic and healing arts in his early 20’s when he suffered from lower back pain, migraine headaches& depression. He first discovered yoga and then went on to study remedial massage, Chinese medical massage (Tui-Na), acupuncture, yoga teaching and various other health sciences. After 5 years of clinical practice, he began writing books on a various subjects in the natural medicine field and in 2013-2014 he was a lecturer in Traditional Chinese medicine and massage at the Institute of Applied Science in Brisbane.
He is passionate about self health care, education that empowers, Oriental philosophy applied to modern living and drinking cups of tea.
His teaching style is described as clear, insightful and easy-going.
